Systems Administrator

We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator to build, manage, and operate information technology computer systems for employees of the Institute.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As part of the IT team the selected candidate will be responsible for managing the operations of hybrid cloud Data Center server deployments, Virtual Machines, and Azure outsource applications and systems; administrating Active Directory and institute Domain Controllers; analyzing and developing new enterprise features surrounding remote access, server backup/recovery, and disaster recovery/failover operations; identifying, testing, and deploying upgrades to hardware/software/licenses for central computing resources for both administration and laboratory functions and optimizes end-user delivery/deployments; supporting institute-wide security systems, both for building access, anti-virus ecosystems, and email/collaboration platforms; acting as liaison with IT vendors to request service regarding defective products; designing, implementing, and managing enterprise software systems; writing automation routines in scripting languages for the optimization of infrastructure and software administration operations; designing and building high-performance computer systems for core and scientific departments; and other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience and a minimum of five (5) years of related work experience is required, preferably in a related working environment.  Related experience must include Experience with and knowledge of a variety of Operating Systems, including client and server versions of Windows, MacOS and Linux; network and domain management; administration of Microsoft software and 365 cloud-service; experience with IT operational management software, scripting languages, and Mobile Device support.  AV conferencing systems support is preferred, along with experience with a high-level programming language is preferred.   Must demonstrate the ability to build and maintain rapport and trust with a diverse population of people as well internal colleagues and peers; must demonstrate excellent judgment and possess the ability and desire to provide flexible customer service; and must possess excellent follow up, organization, and communication skills.  The ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality is a must.
