The projects in Dr. Kwon’s lab focus on understanding molecular and cellular mechanisms of experience-dependent neural circuit modification using a mouse model. The research uses cutting-edge imaging/physiology techniques such as two-photon imaging/uncaging and optogenetics at the level of synapses and circuits to define molecular and physiological mechanisms in synapse/circuit development.
We are also developing novel techniques that label and manipulate selective neural circuits that lead to an animals’ behavior. By having this technique, we will be able to dissect out specific learning circuits with a high spatiotemporal resolution. Furthermore, neural circuits involved in fine, complex behaviors will possibly be investigated.
